Test Anxiety

I am skeptical sometimes when students tell me they get "test anxiety." I know it is a real phenomenon for some, but like many other ailments, it can be over-diagnosed. Even if you are pretty sure you really have it, there are things you can do to help yourself. Try reading this page on overcoming test anxiety and how to study for tests. It really might help.

One positive way to look at the situation, is that if you really do have this "problem," for one thing it means you care enough to get nervous. In the long run, this fact will likely serve you well if you are willing to work hard to overcome it. Taking advantage of test study sessions offered is one way to help some as well. Finally, do not be afraid to talk to me about it.

9/28/09 End of Day Update

  • Algebra II tests are graded but not entered in SIS as system was down for a significant portion of the day. You will receive them back to see tomorrow.

  • In Pre-Calculus, we did not quite finish notes over section 7 and thus I did not hand out worksheets. You will get them tomorrow. The test is delayed until Monday. Remember when graphing the functions in section 6 to follow the order we discussed. Also, a function of the form. f(x) = (-x+2)^2 + 3 can be alternatively written as f(x) = [-(x-2)]^2 + 3 and thus involves a reflection across the y-axis.

  • In statistics, we discussed Counting Principles including the FCT, permutations, and combinations. Homework will be done over this section tomorrow and I will also assign the Ch 3 Review. We will push this test back until Thursday. This will give us time to rvw on Wednesday after you have looked at review assignment.
